JeanRichard: la historia de un movimiento innovador

Hace unos días tuve la oportunidad de conocer de primera mano la casa JeanRichard, parte del grupo de alta relojería Sowind Group –  del que también forma parte Girard-Perregaux, aunque de ésta ya os hablaré otro día – y la verdad es que lo que sentí fue amor a primera vista, no os engañaré.

JeanRichard Diverscope, deportivo y resistente.

JeanRichard toma su nombre de un innovador relojero del siglo XVII llamado Daniel JeanRichard; que a sus tiernos 16 años ya había creado su primer reloj – y nosotros a los dieciséis sólo tenemos granos - , en el que definió una maquinaria que luego puso a disposición de sus aprendices y otros relojeros carentes de su talento.

Y es que en el mundo de la relojería, las firmas se dividen entre aquellas que crean sus propios movimientos – la maquinaria del reloj se llama así, ‘movimiento’ – o las que simplemente lo compran hecho; algo así como los que hacían los deberes y los que simplemente los copiaban en nuestra adolescencia. Y claramente, JeanRichard es de los que los hacían y además buscando nota.

JeanRichard Highlands Biglife, simplemente lo amo.

El caso es que en nuestra presentación tuvimos la suerte de ver algunos de los modelos actuales de JeanRichard – el Aquascope y el Diverscope -  pero, como en las historias de amor verdadero, desde que mis ojos se posaron sobre el niño de ms ojos, el Highlands Biglife, no me pude separar de él. Y hasta hoy seguimos viviendo nuestro idilio.

El Highlands Biglife es el fruto de la colaboración de JeanRichard con Biglife, una asociación sin ánimo de lucro que pretende preservar la fauna de África, a la que cede parte de los beneficios que s generen por la venta de este precioso reloj. Se trata de una iniciativa socialmente responsable que claramente subraya ese carácter innovador del que ya hacía gala su alma mater hace más de cuatrocientos años.

A few days ago I had the privilege to attend to a private party with JeanRichard, a part of Sowing Group along with Girard-Perregaux - but that’s another story I’ll tell you some other day – and I’m guessing what I lived was love at first sight.

JeanRichard takes his name from Daniel JeanRichard, an innovative watchmaker from the late XVIIth century. When he was barely sixteen he had already created his first watch, including with the movement that he later shared with his colleagues and apprentices.

An as it seems, there are two kinds of watchmakers: those who actually build their own movement – the watch machinery this is - , and those others who just buy a movement; quite like in the old school days: some do they homework and others just copy it.

In the presentation we had the opportunity to actually see a few pieces of their collection, such as the Aquascope and the Diverscope, but the minute I set my eyes on the Highlands Biglife, I fall in love and I haven’t been able to actually kiss it goodbye yet.

This particular joy comes as a result of an innovative join venture between JeanRichard and Biglife, a NGO supporting Africa’s wildlife. And again, it looks as if JeanRichard is still among the first ones in class, aren’t they?
